Non-contact optical sensors – Chromatic Focus Zoom

The Chromatic Focus Zoom sensor enables measurements "in the image" with Werth image processing and distance measurements with a chromatic focus sensor in the same beam path. Among the benefits are simplified operation and measurement time savings.

The Chromatic Focus Zoom allows non-contact measurements with high accuracy and measuring speed in all three spatial directions. The multi-sensor measuring range is not restricted due to the fusion of both sensors, so that small machines can meet the requirements of the measuring tasks. The measuring spot of the chromatic distance sensor is visualized on the workpiece surface and displayed directly in the video image. This allows the focus sensor to be positioned in a user-friendly manner. The combination of both sensors in the same beam path enables quick sensor changes at the push of a button without the need for tedious positioning when switching.
The light from a broadband light source b) is projected from the evaluation box a) onto the workpiece (position 1), 2) or 3)) via a fiber coupler c), an optical fiber d) and an imaging optic e). The intensity of the reflected light is highest for the color that corresponds to the distance from the workpiece f). This is evaluated using a spectrometer g). An image processing sensor i) (illumination not shown) is additionally integrated via a divider mirror h).
