Non-contact optical sensors – Werth 3D Patch

The Werth 3D Patch is an optical distance sensor from the Werth sensor kit for the area-based measurement of complex 3D surface topographies.

The hardware of the image processing sensor (a) camera, b) imaging optics, c) measuring object and d) incident light illumination) is used to capture images in different positions between z1 and z2 on the optical axis. At maximum contrast, the focal plane coincides with the object plane. Based on the contrast curve, many measurement points on the workpiece surface are determined simultaneously, resulting in a 3D point cloud of the surface topography.
The user can switch between faster or more accurate measurement at the click of a mouse. The patented 3D patch/HA also enables the measurement of surfaces with strong fluctuations in brightness.
