Measurement of battery cells with TomoScope® S Plus

The TomoScope® S Plus and Werth longlife transmission sources with X-ray voltages of up to 240 kV enable fast measurements with high resolution.

X-ray voltages of up to 240 kV allow even large and thick-walled battery cells to be penetrated. The Werth ClearCT ensures low-artifact measurements in a short time. As the principle eliminates cone beam and ring artifacts, the measurement errors are also correspondingly lower. This means that battery cells of any mold can be measured, including prismatic cells, button and pouch batteries in addition to the cylindrical cells shown.

With the unique Werth contour image processing, image, contour and element filters are available for the measurement of all geometrical characteristics in the volume section. In addition to overhangs or coating thicknesses of cathode and anode in jelly roll or stack, stacking accuracy and connection geometry can also be measured. It is also possible to detect foreign particles just a few micrometers in size and to inspect soldered and welded joints.
