Printed circuit boards are flat workpieces, often very large in a single plane, on which many properties are tested. Important geometrical characteristics are the hole pattern and distances between the electrical components. The continuity of the bonding wires, defects in soldered connections and other defects are also tested. With tolerances of 20 µm to 50 µm, the requirements for measurement uncertainty are in the medium range. The measurement time requirements are very high.
